The "Council"

This week our team will lead our annual meeting with our 7 Regional Directors.  We are a diverse group facing diverse issues.  Yet, we share a common calling and commitment to one another.  Please excuse my (hopefully) sanctified imagination, but this gathering reminds me of the Council of Elrond in the Lord of the Rings, a very diverse group pulled together for a common desperate cause.  Like them, our diversity of gifting, race and situation is both a strength and a vulnerability.  That’s why Paul begged his diverse fellow leaders in Ephesians 4:1-3 “I… implore you to walk in a manner worth of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”  Please pray with us, “Head of the Body, lead these fellow bond-slaves of Christ to lead in a manner worthy of Your calling on their lives.” (Colossians 4:3)
