Men and Money
I’ve often heard leaders say that the work of missions comes down to men and money. Jesus had a band of brothers and sisters who supported Him and his team. (Luke 8:3) Paul had friends and churches that helped to fund his work. (Philippians 4:15-16) Sometimes Paul appealed to friends to sacrificially support him and his work. (Philemon 1:1-25)
We’re in a season where we are making such appeals to friends. Some who have generously supported our work have retired, leaving a gap for others. So this fall we are seeking new people to partner with us. Please pray that God will meet our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ. (Philippians 4:17-19)
Prayer update:
I felt so inadequate coming alongside the leaders of our largest work in the Middle East North Africa region, and so embraced and empowered. We focused on what it looks like to become a team like the teams that Jesus and Paul built. Afterward the Arab country leader said to me through a translator, “Our work will never be the same!”
Within a few minutes of boarding my flight home the next day I was overcome with an e-coli infection. During my layover in Frankfurt they put me in a clinic with an IV in my arm, to strengthen me for the rest of my journey home. I arrived home to a house filled with a team that our son Hudson is leading to the Middle East. I found myself counseling and encouraging them from my sickbed. Today I’m recovered and flying to the east coast!
