A Profitable Fragrance
Over the past few days I’ve spent many hours praying for friends like you who pray for us. You see, I was praying while I was writing to invite friends to partner with us through giving to our work. Like the Apostle Paul, who wrote a financial appeal to his friends in Philippi, I was not seeking the gift itself. I was seeking “the profit which increases to your account.” (Philippians 4:17) And, I was praying that those gifts would become like the gift that the Philippians sent: “a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God”. (Philippians 4:18) And now I pray that all of the many gifts that we each give this month will have that fragrance that God so loves.
Prayer update: Thank you for praying for my grand-parenting. What pleasant answers to prayer! There’s nothing like having your grandsons snuggling up to read with you, or giggling uncontrollably as you play!
