The Grace Pool

This fall was a prolonged travel sprint for me. Now I am home for two months. Renee and I have been keenly looking forward to this. Our daughter and her family have arrived for two months of furlough in our home. You can imagine how a 2 and a 4-year-old suddenly change our life.

Then imagine adding all of our other children and grandchildren for the last two weeks of December. This will be the first time that we’ve all been together since Ian’s funeral six years ago. We’ll be hosting 12 adults and six grandchildren four and under. So much for quiet evenings at home!

And here’s a surprise: After raising seven children I still feel weak in relating to little ones. On one level I deeply love them. On another level, caring for them always feels like a jump into the deep end of the grace pool.

So, you won’t hear much from me for a while. But, as you enjoy your holidays, please allow your own challenges to prompt you to pray for us also. May this be a season of great grace for all of us!

Prayer update:  I sensed God’s blessing in Malaysia as I spoke on Don't Waste The Pain, Follow Me, and Learning to Hear God’s Voice. I slept little, but sensed that I was being carried along on the prayers of friends like you.  One brand new Malaysian believer said to me with tears in her eyes, “You are like my spiritual grandfather!” And one of our National Directors told me that his times with me were the highlight of his time there. In my weakness, Jesus was somehow revealed.
